Position Summary
The Logistics Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for all transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities across CM Truck Beds. This role is accountable for delivering best-in-class service performance while optimizing total landed cost, improving material flow, and advancing Lean enterprise initiatives. The position plays a critical role in aligning supply chain execution with production demand, customer expectations, and overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Distribution Leadership
- Own outbound logistics strategy, ensuring consistent execution against service, cost, and delivery targets
- Optimize network design, routing, and load planning to improve efficiency and reduce cost per unit
- Establish and manage a high-performing carrier network with clear performance expectations and accountability
Warehouse & Inventory Excellence
- Lead warehouse operations with a focus on flow, accuracy, and productivity
- Ensure inventory integrity through disciplined processes, cycle counting, and root cause resolution
- Drive Lean material flow through implementation of 5S, FIFO, pull systems, and visual management
End-to-End Supply Chain Alignment
- Partner cross-functionally with Production, Procurement, and Sales to align supply with demand
- Support S&OP execution, ensuring capacity and logistics plans enable business objectives
- Balance inventory, transportation, and service to optimize total cost and working capital
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Establish and monitor KPIs that drive accountability across safety, quality, delivery, and cost
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean methodologies (Kaizen, A3, root cause analysis)
- Standardize processes and implement daily management systems to sustain performance gains
Vendor & Carrier Management
- Develop strategic partnerships with logistics providers to ensure scalability and reliability
- Implement performance scorecards focused on cost, service, and quality metrics
- Lead contract negotiations to achieve competitive and sustainable cost structures
Compliance, Safety & Quality
- Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards
- Champion a zero-incident safety culture across all logistics operations
- Reduce damage and claims through standardized handling, loading, and securement practices
Leadership & Talent Development
- Build and lead a high-performing logistics organization through coaching, accountability, and development
- Establish leadership capability within the team through succession planning and structured development
- Foster a culture of ownership, engagement, and continuous improvement
