Job Description

We are seeking a
detail-oriented, innovative, and collaborative Product Manager to join our team,
complementing the strategic leadership of the Principal Product Owner. The
ideal candidate will excel in tactical execution, cross-functional
collaboration, and user-centred development while aligning with the overarching
product vision and strategic goals set by the Product Owner. This role is
pivotal in ensuring smooth delivery, refinement, and implementation of product
features, working closely with agile squads, stakeholders, and third-party
teams.

 
Key responsibilities

Backlog Management and Refinement
  • Work closely with the Product
    Owner to understand features, epics, and business priorities.

  • Ensure squads have a clear
    understanding of epics, their business value, and how they translate into user
    stories.

  • Conduct structured
    analysis, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and gap analysis,
    to inform product development decisions and backlog refinement.

  • Align with the product
    roadmap and break down epics into well-defined, actionable user stories.

  • Create, manage, and refine
    a comprehensive product backlog that reflects current business priorities, user
    needs and strategic goals.

  • Refine user stories in
    advance for 2-3 sprints, ensuring alignment with the INVEST criteria.

  • Proactively identify and
    address potential blockers, collaborating with stakeholders to facilitate a
    smooth refinement process.

  • Assess when stakeholder involvement
    is needed for refinement and align with the Product Owner to determine the best
    approach.

  • Partner with Quality
    Engineering to ensure alignment on testing strategies and acceptance criteria.

SStakeholder Engagement and
Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Business SMEs,
    developers, and key stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure alignment
    with user needs.

  • Facilitate structured workshops
    to elicit requirements, ensuring comprehensive input while balancing business
    priorities and feasibility.

  • Manage stakeholder
    expectations by prioritising essential product requirements, providing
    transparency on trade-offs and decision making.

  • Present well-researched
    recommendations and guide discussions by asking stakeholders to critique and
    refine solutions.

  • Build prototypes, mock-ups,
    and examples to enhance stakeholder understanding and validation during refinement
    sessions.

  • Plan and coordinate UAT
    resources, ensuring smooth execution, clear documentation of outputs, and
    stakeholder alignment.

  • Develop and maintain
    training materials where necessary, providing targeted support to users during
    feature rollout and adoption.

 

3Agile Execution and Delivery

  • Present well-defined and
    prioritised backlog items during Sprint Planning, supporting the team in making
    sprint commitments.

  • Act as the primary point
    of contact during development and QA phases, providing clarifications,
    resolving blockers, and adapting requirements as needed.

  • Support the development
    team during feature implementation, facilitating ongoing refinements to meet stakeholder
    expectations.

  • Ensure smooth system
    implementation and configuration, providing guidance on business requirements
    and product alignment.

  • Manage the documentation
    of finalised requirements, including updates to change requests.

  • Prepare and present demos
    during Sprint Reviews and gather feedback.

PProcess improvement and
Metrics

  • Conduct product and data
    analysis to identify areas for improvement, track progress, and report on
    benefits realised, ensuring alignment with product OKRs.

  • Perform financial and
    cost-benefit analysis with stakeholders to inform decision making and
    prioritisation of product features.

  • Leverage Agile ceremonies and
    process analysis to identify inefficiencies in refinement, development, and
    deployment workflows, implementing solutions to drive continuous improvements.

  • Track sign-off and
    deployment details to ensure clear communication across teams. 



Requirements

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience in Product
    Analysis or Systems Analysis, particularly in backlog refinement, stakeholder
    engagement, and Agile execution.

  • Exceptional collaboration
    and communication skills, with a strong analytical mindset and ability to
    perform financial analysis and cost-benefit analysis.

  • Ability to critically
    evaluate business needs, challenge assumptions, and independently develop
    recommendations before translating them into actionable user stories.

  • Strong knowledge of Agile
    principles and frameworks, with hands-on experience in Sprint planning and
    backlog management.

  • Familiarity with insurance
    industry processes, regulations, and market dynamics.

  • Technical proficiency to
    understand development processes, constraints, and opportunities.

  • Ability to juggle
    competing priorities, manage dependencies, and make decisions in ambiguous
    situations. 

  • Proficiency in JIRA,
    Confluence, and Miro.
