Job Overview
The Electrical Designer is responsible for the preparation of all electrical deliverables in the Drafting and Design Department. These include area classification drawings, single line diagrams, grounding layouts, wiring diagrams, panel drawings, schematics, schedules, cable tray layouts and associated 3D models.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of 3D models using Intergraph CADWorx and Bentley AutoPLANT 3D software.
- Preparation of design drawings such as Area Classifications, Grounding Layouts, Single Line Diagrams, Schematics, Schedules, Panel Drawings and Junction Box Drawings.
- Bill of materials generation.
- Review of drawings and designs for accuracy, completeness and consistency.
- Participate in internal and external 30/60/90 model reviews.
- Adherence to electronic filing system, folder structure and file management.
- Regular meetings with the Electrical Design Lead to ensure all project requirements are being met.
- Effectively communicate the status of tasks, design changes and continuous improvement items to the rest of the design team.
- Maintain proficiency with the most up to date software.
- Develop mutually beneficial relationships with team members and project personnel.
Skills and Abilities
- Design layout of Electrical systems.
- Preparation of 3D models using Intergraph CADWorx and Bentley AutoPLANT 3D software.
- Preparation of design drawings for the various disciplines in the company, including Electrical, Instrumentation and Automation.
- General training and guidance of design drafting personnel.
Education and Qualifications
- Engineering Design and Drafting Diploma or Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma
- 5+ years’ of EPCM experience.
- Registered member of ASET.
