    PRIMARY PURPOSE:
    Provide leadership and support to ensure effective planning, development and implementation of instructional and behavior supports in the least restrictive environment.  Utilize scientifically, research-based and/ or peer reviewed instructional and behavior support strategies to foster the educational success of special education eligible students with behavioral and social skills needs.  Create and utilize a district-wide training and support plan to address and support the needs of educators, parents and students.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Minimum Education/Certification:

    • Bachelor's degree from accredited university
    • Master's degree preferred
    • Valid Texas teaching certificate, with required special education endorsements for assignments


    Special Knowledge/Skills:

    • Demonstrate knowledge of federal and state laws and policies relevant to special education law
    • Demonstrate the ability to interpret and develop individualized educational plans based on psychological, behavioral and educational evaluation data
    • Demonstrate a working knowledge of the instructional needs of students with disabilities, inclusive of students with Autism and Emotional Disturbance
    • Demonstrate knowledge of instructional strategies to support the needs of individuals with disabilities in the general curriculum
    • Demonstrate the ability to provide staff development sessions on various topics in the field of special education, particularly as it pertains to Autism, social skills, behavior, inclusion, and assistive technology
    • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
    • Demonstrate the ability to utilize effective interpersonal skills in multiple settings
    • Demonstrate evidence of being trained (or willingness to become a district trainer) in physical intervention techniques, such as CPI, Satori, etc�
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the IEP/ARD process and the ability to be an active participant in the process
    • Demonstrate knowledge of the TEKS curriculum and the ability to make modifications or accommodations for instructionally diverse learners
       

    Experience:

    • Three years relevant teaching experience, preferred


    CALENDAR: 187 Work Days

    SALARY: Contingent on Experience
    Minimum: $55,548
