Job Title: Family Preservation Social Worker
Location: Hybrid Remote – Wellspring Bay City
Service Area: Bay and Arenac counties
Reports to: Family Services Families First Supervisor – Bay City

Wellspring is a statewide nonprofit serving families and children across Michigan. We are currently seeking a Family Preservation Worker to join our Families First Program in Bay City. In this position, you'll be directly supporting your community in Bay and Arenac counties.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to the Families First model of service, utilizing a strength-based, non-deficit approach.
- Provide and assist families in accessing concrete services such as housing support, transportation, home cleaning, maintenance, and repairs.
- Deliver skills training in areas including parenting, communication, self-advocacy, and self-sufficiency.
- Provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention to families experiencing stress or instability.
- Make collateral contacts to coordinate support such as outpatient counseling, medical care, educational needs, utility assistance, and housing resources.
- Prepare and maintain documentation—including service plans, progress reports, termination summaries, goal sheets, weekly plans, time reports, and related correspondence—within required timeframes.
- Present each case for termination conferences with contractors and recommend appropriate follow-up services.
- Maintain 24-hour availability to clients and a flexible work schedule based on the needs of each family.
- Maintain face-to-face contact with families according to contract requirements and family-specific needs.
- Maintain weekly contact (or more as needed) with referring workers.
- Complete follow-up evaluations at 3, 6, and 12 months within designated timeframes.
- Transport clients in your own vehicle as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services related field, required.
- Current and valid driver’s license, vehicle registration, and auto insurance, required.
- Experience working with children and families preferred.
- Reliable, responsible, and compassionate approach to supporting families.
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills.
Schedule and Compensation
- Employment Type: Full-time
- Schedule: Flexible schedule with 24-hour availability as needed
- Hybrid Remote: Home-based with travel throughout Bay and Arenac counties.
- In-Office Requirements: Weekly team meetings, trainings, and clinical supervision
- Pay Rate: $43,000 per year based on experience and education.
- Mileage Reimbursement: provided for work-related travel
