Assistant Principal of Students

The Assistant Principal of Students is a key member of the leadership team responsible for maintaining a safe, structured, and respectful learning environment. This role leads student discipline, behavior systems, and consistent enforcement of school expectations aligned with Sonoran Science Academy’s mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and implement a consistent, school-wide discipline system
  • Maintain a safe, orderly campus environment
  • Investigate behavior incidents and determine appropriate consequences
  • Manage and track discipline referrals, documentation, and data
  • Support and coach staff on classroom management and behavior strategies
  • Ensure consistent implementation of PBIS and school expectations
  • Monitor behavior trends and provide interventions for students in need
  • Communicate with families and lead behavior-related meetings
  • Respond to student crises and support de-escalation efforts
  • Maintain a visible campus presence during key supervision times
  • Oversee student safety monitoring systems (e.g., GoGuardian, Gaggle)
  • Collaborate with school leadership on discipline and school climate

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field preferred
  • Experience in student discipline, student services, or school administration preferred
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education certification required
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required
