Job Description

The MEP Revit Designer / Technologist is responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating Building Information Modeling (BIM) deliverables for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems on industrial, commercial, and institutional projects. This role supports engineers and project teams by producing accurate 3D models, detailed drawings, and coordinated design packages that meet project, client, and regulatory requirements.

The position involves executing components of complex projects or managing multiple smaller assignments, ensuring quality, consistency, and adherence to company standards.

  • Plans, develops, schedules, coordinates, and executes BIM and drafting work on moderate-scope projects.
  • Executes components of large projects or manages several small projects with complex features.
  • Develops and maintains detailed 3D Revit models for MEP systems, including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Prepares detailed design drawings, construction packages, and technical documentation in accordance with project requirements.
  • Interprets engineering sketches, markups, and specifications to produce accurate and constructible models and drawings.
  • Coordinates MEP systems with structural, architectural, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and clash-free designs.
  • Participates in BIM coordination processes, including clash detection and resolution using Navisworks or similar tools.
  • Assists in planning project deliverables, schedules, and workloads to meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Reviews drawings, models, and deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company procedures.
  • Assists in the preparation of reports, quantity take-offs, and material lists as required.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of BIM standards, templates, and workflows.
  • Interfaces with engineers, designers, project managers, and clients to ensure alignment of design intent and deliverables.
  • Assists in coordinating and reviewing the work of junior designers or drafters where applicable.
  • Supports construction activities including responding to RFIs, updating drawings, and preparing as-built documentation.
  • May participate in site visits, field verification, and data collection activities
  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–7 years of experience in MEP drafting/design within an engineering consulting or industrial environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit (MEP) is required.
  • Working knowledge of Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
  • Strong understanding of MEP systems including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Experience in industrial environments such as manufacturing, processing plants, or utilities is preferred.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, CSA, CEC, local building codes).
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
