Requirements / Qualifications
One of the following: A 30 day Emergency Sub Teaching Permit, or a California Teaching Credential--Multiple Subject, Single subject, or Educational Special Educational Specialist.
To qualify for a 30 day Emergency Teaching permit:
BA/BS or higher from an accredited college or university (verified by an official transcript).
Completion of the basic skills requirement (CBEST or Multiple Subject CSET) and completion of the appropriate Credentialing (CCTC) application 41-4. CBEST testing information is on line at www.cbest.nesinc.com.
Completion of the Livescan fingerprinting process for CCTC, total fee $64.00 ($32.00 DOJ / $17.00 FBI / $15.00 processing fee).
Payment of the required fees, currently $57.00 (fees are established by the CCTC).

There will be fees for fingerprinting services for any person applying for a substitute or temporary position with SJCOE. The fee for a Certificated Substitute/Temp is $47.00.
Teacher applicants need the following required materials: Letter of Introduction, Resume, Three Professional Letters of Recommendation, proof of BA, and/or copy of valid CA substitute permit or teaching credential.
