Job Description

Lexington Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head Boys Basketball Coach to lead the school’s basketball program. The head coach will be responsible for developing student-athletes’ basketball skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and character. The coach will oversee all aspects of the boys basketball program and ensure a positive, safe, and competitive experience for middle school athletes.


 


Key Responsibilities




  • Plan, organize, and lead all practices, games, and team activities.




  • Teach fundamental basketball skills, strategies, and rules appropriate for middle school athletes.




  • Develop practice plans focused on skill development, teamwork, and conditioning.




  • Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team events.




  • Promote sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, and respect among players.




  • Manage and oversee assistant coaches and team responsibilities.




  • Maintain and organize equipment, uniforms, and program materials.




  • Communicate expectations and schedules with players, parents, and school administration.




  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes.




  • Follow all school, district, and athletic association policies and guidelines.




  • Coordinate game preparation, lineups, and overall team strategy.




Qualifications




  • Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and coaching techniques.




  • Previous coaching or playing experience in basketball preferred.




  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.




  • Ability to positively mentor and work with middle school students.




  • Commitment to building a positive and competitive team culture.




  • Must meet all district coaching requirements.




  • CPR/First Aid certification REQUIRED or willingness to obtain.




Time Commitment




  • Attendance at all scheduled practices, games, and team events during the season.




  • Participation in meetings with athletic administration as needed.




Compensation




  • Stipend based on district athletic supplement schedule.
