CNC MACHINIST INSTRUCTOR
Job Summary: The CNC Machinist Instructor delivers a competency-based instructional
program designed to develop industry-aligned skills in machining and manufacturing
processes. This role provides students with hands-on training and foundational knowledge
in areas such as shop safety, precision measurement, blueprint reading, and machine
operation. The instructor ensures students build technical proficiency and workplace
readiness through practical application of machining techniques including the use of
lathes, milling machines, drill presses, and other shop equipment while reinforcing math
and inspection principles.
Education and Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma, or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the
trade or occupational area (must be able to obtain a temporary certificate in trade
and industrial education and be willing to work toward standard certification)
• Bachelor’s degree in trade and industrial education and a teaching certificate is
preferred
Terms of Employment:
• 10-month, exempt employee
• Professional salary schedule
Key Duties and Responsibilities: including other duties as assigned
• Instruction:
▪ Meets and instructs students in assigned classes at the location and times
assigned.
▪ Prepares lesson plans and course syllabus for courses and establishes goals.
▪ Lectures, illustrates, and demonstrates when teaching use of hand tools,
machines, equipment, precision measuring instruments, industrial techniques and
safety practices.

▪ Provides performance based individualized and group instruction utilizing a variety
of instructional techniques.
▪ Instructs students in the importance and significance of accuracy, neatness,
efficiency, resourcefulness and good work habits in obtaining an retaining
employment in business.
▪ Instructs students in the use, care, and safe operation of machinery and
equipment and the care of furniture, materials, and supplies.
▪ Works cooperatively with the Advantage Center instructors to provide educational
service for those students who need related math or reading.
▪ Prepares and submits reports as required by the State and the District.
• Classroom Management:
▪ Organizes class time so that classroom instruction, laboratory work, and clean-up
activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
▪ Selects and requisitions instructional materials, supplies, and equipment and
maintains required inventory records.
▪ Evaluates student progress based on knowledge, skills, and attitudes learned in
the areas being taught, maintains competency records, prepares progress reports
and employment references for students.
▪ Maintains an accurate record of attendance, absences, tardies, achievement, and
make-up work for each student according to the current Board of Education and
Administrative policies.
▪ Maintains a clean and orderly classroom shop, room storage room, and office
space.
▪ Maintains an emergency data file on each student enrolled.
• Counseling and Placement:
▪ Works cooperatively with other instructors, administrators, and staff.
▪ Participates in the team management process by working on committees and task
forces.
▪ Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
Maintains professional competence through participation in the staff development
plan, in-service education activities and selected professional growth activities.
▪ Maintains an active program advisory committee.
▪ Assists in upholding and enforcing the rules and regulations of the Board of
Education.
▪ Develops individual goals and objectives that are consistent with the philosophy,
goals, and objectives of the technology center.
▪ Participates in the evaluation process with the assigned administrator.

▪ Maintains a professional attitude through participation in professional
organizations.
▪ Attends OK Summit conference annually in August and other
conferences/workshops as required.
