    POSITION: STEM Teacher

    LOCATION:  Merry Acres Middle School

    JOB SUMMARY: The Dougherty County School System is seeking a STEM teacher to join our roster of experienced, motivated, and effective teaching professionals. The ideal candidate will be passionate about inspiring students to explore and excel in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing engaging curriculum, fostering critical thinking skills, and cultivating a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Bachelors’ degree or higher education in a STEM field, or related field; 
    2. Valid Georgia Teacher certification or Charter Waiver Eligible;
    3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and the Board may find appropriate. 
    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  
    1. Excellent communication and organizational skills;
    2. Ability to relate to and motivate all students in a positive manner with respect;
    3. Ability to effectively navigate and utilize a wide range of educational and career-related technology tools, software applications, and digital platforms while engaging students; 
    4. Ability to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities.
    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance;
    2. Be present, organized, and enthusiastically committed to the success of all students;
    3. Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate hands-on activities, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications;
    4. Utilize a variety of instructional methods, technologies, and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities;
    5. Foster a classroom culture that promotes curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving;
    6. Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback to students and parents/guardians;
    7. Differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of students, including those with diverse backgrounds, interests, and learning profiles;
    8. Collaborate with colleagues to integrate STEM concepts across disciplines and facilitate interdisciplinary projects;
    9. Instructs designed classes in accordance with formulated plans and outlines, modified as necessary to achieve the learning objectives; all within the policies of the school system;
    10. Maintains the degree of discipline and order in the classroom necessary to effectively instruct students;
    11. Counsels with students and parents on learning and discipline problems as necessary;
    12. Supervises or assists in the supervision of school activities as assigned;
    13. Performs related duties as assigned as circumstances require;
    14. Completes all records and reports on time and with accuracy;
    15. Stay current with developments in STEM education, instructional strategies, and technology tools through professional development opportunities;
    16. Maintains satisfactory performance on the system Evaluation Instrument;
    17. Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Supervisor.
       
    REPORTS TO:  Principal 

    SALARY RANGE:  Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
