JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Building Services Supervisor provides leadership and oversight for Logistical Services operations, supervising full-time staff to ensure efficient and effective support of campus needs. This position is classified as an Essential Services Employee. Essential Services Employees maintain business operations for UT Health Science Center, supporting the physical operations and safety of the campus. This role involves performing various operations and services essential to maintaining critical infrastructure and ensuring continuous operations
Responsibilities
- Supervises the moving and transportation of office furniture, laboratory equipment, health care equipment, and other equipment or supplies.
- Supervises the moving of material and supplies associated with building construction and maintenance.
- Makes recommendations for staffing, interviewing, hiring, training of new and current employees.
- Ensures the employees set up, arranges and take down equipment, chairs, tables and breakdown of same for special events.
- Coordinates various tasks/projects with outside contractors and vendors to ensure proper service.
- Makes decisions regarding scheduling and prioritizing layout, utilization and moving various equipment, materials, surplus items, etc.
- Issues disciplinary actions and coordinates with the superintendent.
- Organizes and schedules scrap run in accordance with UT policy and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience in shipping, receiving, logistical service, or warehousing.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid Driver's License required to drive a UT vehicle. (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and walk for prolonged periods; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of various common tools and equipment.
- Ability to work under stress to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate with individuals and university officials to coordinate moving operations to completion.
- Computer and analytical skills.
- Ability to train employees and temporary employees in safety procedures.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position is required to report to the designated work location to ensure operation of essential campus functions or departments during an emergency, or when the University has suspended or delayed operations. This position may occasionally work weekends.
