The Scalable Services Group at the is seeking a Product Manager II to lead the development of platforms and applications that power both the generation and the effective use of some of the largest genomic datasets in the world.
In addition to building scalable systems for data production, this role will drive the creation of intuitive, researcher-facing tools that enable scientists to explore, analyze, and derive insight from complex genomic and multi-omic data. This includes work supporting major national efforts such as the All of Us Research Program, helping democratize access to high-quality biomedical data and empowering a diverse research community.
Your work will directly influence not only how genomic data is generated at unprecedented scale, but also how it is accessed, understood, and used by researchers worldwide—accelerating discoveries in precision medicine, population health, and beyond.
What You’ll Do
Define and drive product strategy and roadmap for platforms that support large-scale genomic data generation and researcher-facing analysis applications
Partner with engineering, computational biology, and scientific stakeholders to translate both production and research needs into scalable, usable product solutions
Lead product development across the full lifecycle—from concept and requirements through delivery, adoption, and iteration
Design and prioritize features that improve usability, accessibility, and performance for researchers working with large, complex datasets
Shape systems that operate at cohort scale (hundreds of thousands to millions of genomes), leveraging cloud-native architectures
Balance platform robustness (throughput, cost, reliability) with excellent user experience for scientific end users
Ensure products meet high standards for data security, compliance, and reproducibility
What We’re Looking For
3+ years of product management experience, preferably in data platforms, infrastructure, or scientific/technical domains
Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, data science, and domain experts
Technical fluency (e.g., cloud platforms, distributed systems, data pipelines)
Experience building or supporting user-facing applications, especially for technical or scientific users
Experience working with large-scale datasets; familiarity with genomics or life sciences is a strong plus
Ability to balance long-term platform vision with usability and researcher experience
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have
Experience with genomic data processing pipelines (e.g., variant calling, imputation, or large cohort analysis)
Familiarity with platforms such as Terra, GCP, or similar cloud-based research environments
Experience supporting or building tools for large research programs (e.g., All of Us Research Program or similar initiatives)
Exposure to regulated data environments (e.g., FISMA, FedRAMP)
Background in bioinformatics, computational biology, or related fields
Why Join Us
Work on mission-driven products that enable groundbreaking discoveries in human health and disease
Build both the infrastructure and the applications that researchers rely on to unlock insight from massive datasets
Contribute to nationally significant efforts like the All of Us Research Program
Collaborate with world-class scientists, engineers, and data experts
Help shape the future of scalable, accessible genomics
