The Senior Designer provides design services for the Manager, Engineering & Technical Services, Mechanical and Structural Engineers and the Operations group. This is to enable the implementation of project work in accordance with safety, codes and standards, schedule, quality and cost control.
Responsibilities
Health and Safety:
• Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
• Following Company health and safety standards and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to Supervisor.
General:
• Produce drawings from appropriate software accurately and in a timely manner as per specifications and project schedules
• Preliminary and final design of structures, fixtures and components to support shaft sinking operations
• Ensure drawings are produced in compliance with legislation, regulations, manufacturer specifications and safety policies
• Check drawings done by other Designers or Engineers-in-Training
• Conducts product and/or process research as required for projects with guidance of Manager, Engineering and Technical Services and make recommendations
• Participate in discussions regarding design and risk management of designs
• Travel to sites to inspect, take measurements and/or attend technical discussions as needed
• Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information

Qualifications
Education
Required: College diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technician or
Preferred: College diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technologist
Work Experience:
Required: 5 years in mining related environment
Preferred: 10 years’ experience in mining with shaft sinking applications

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
