YMCA Camp Whittle in Fawnskin, CA is looking for individuals to drive buses and work with campers from various backgrounds. Come and have fun this summer at Camp Whittle!
Nothing is more important than our staff and we know it. If you are a hard-working individual who enjoys children, you may be just the person we're searching for. Staff members must be able to always put kids first. It is also essential that staff members be strong role models for our campers. And because we're working with kids, we have strict policies in many areas including alcohol, smoking, vaping, curfew, etc.
Staff will need to be available during the following dates:
- Dates of Employment: May 25th - August 20th, 2026
- New Hire Training: June 1-6, 2026
A bus driver for a summer camp is responsible for the safe transportation of campers and staff from sites, field trips, and events. Unlike standard transit roles, this position often involves active engagement with children and assisting in general camp operations when not driving.
Core Responsibilities
- Safe Transportation: Operating buses or large vans to transport campers on scheduled routes, field trips, and shopping runs.
- Safety & Maintenance: Performing mandatory pre-trip and post-trip inspections (checking tires, brakes, fluids, etc) and reporting any mechanical issues to supervisors.
- Camper Supervision: Enforcing bus safety rules, maintaining an orderly environment, and managing camper behavior to prevent distractions.
- Emergency Response: Administering basic First Aid/CPR if needed and following emergency evacuation protocols.
- Support Duties: Assisting with camp or activity setup, or supervising activities when not on a driving rotation.
