PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Job Title: Program Director (hybrid)
Reports to: Executive Director
Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Program Director to join our team, who will oversee all the education and advocacy programs: compassion campaigns, social media, events, outreach, volunteers, and interns. Our ideal candidate is skilled in project coordination, writing, editing, and managing a team.
Responsibilities
Management
● Supervise employees in the Program Department; remote and on-site
● Provide leadership and vision to ensure program effectiveness
● Hire, train, lead, and motivate program staff
● Develop annual team goals with the associated budget for sustainable revenue and operational expenses
● Meet weekly with the Executive Director to report and strategize
Campaigns
● Oversee Food for Thought program, Animal Place’s oldest and most comprehensive advocacy campaign for veganism
● Oversee monthly and/or quarterly compassion campaigns for education and advocacy
● Engage in policy and advocacy to advance Animal Place’s mission
● Monitor the effectiveness of each campaign and report results-driven data
Marketing and Communications
● Develop a social media plan for outreach, marketing, awareness and measure the effectiveness of content for each platform
● Supervise website content creation and ensure content is kept up to date. Monitor and make sure that Animal Place’s websites are running efficiently and securely
● Oversee the production of our newsletter from content, copy editing, design, and print
● Work with staff to develop content, edit and monitor the effectiveness of weekly e-news communication to supporters and provide final approval
Events & Outreach
● Develop annual calendar and budget for events
● Explore, develop and implement educational events, webinars, fundraising events & activities
● Develop timeline and implementation for each event
● Ensure projected attendance, income and expenses are met for each event
● Cultivate a volunteer team to help with multiple projects and ongoing animal care
● Oversee offsite tabling events specific to Animal Place and Rescue & Adoption Center
● Plan conference attendance, tabling, and speaking opportunities
Qualifications
● A strong commitment to Animal Place’s mission of veganism and animal rights
● Three + years of experience in nonprofit management, developing team member skills and creating a cohesive and positive work environment
● Team player and interested in working collaboratively
● Ability to strategize, solve problems, and take the initiative
● Proven organizational skills and attention to detail
● Able to meet deadlines and balance multiple projects
● Comfortable learning multiple systems for CRM, project management, volunteers, and payments
● Excellent written & verbal communication, including the ability to motivate people to take action
● Ability to multi-task with flexibility to pivot
● Extensive familiarity with farmed animal issues and veganism
● Public speaking skills preferred
