Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Associate to join our team in Brisbane. In this role, you will manage a portfolio of payroll clients, delivering accurate and timely payroll processing, tax and statistical compliance, online banking, and consulting services for both international and local companies.

You will work under supervision of experienced payroll team members that supports them with payroll-related compliance and consulting inquiries and constantly improves processes and drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate monthly payroll calculations for all employee types (office, rotation, and shift), including vacation, sick leave, and terminations.

  • Prepare and release pay slips.

  • Ensure tax and statistical compliance, including reporting and maintaining registers.

  • Prepare and process payment orders (SWIFT, online banking).

  • Monitor tax, labor legislation; prepare news alerts and deliver webinars on payroll topics.

  • Handle billing to clients and ensure compliance with local tax regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Analyze compensation data and assess taxability under various tax scenarios.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with tax authorities, addressing inquiries and compliance issues.

  • Help payroll colleagues to automate and improve existing processes.

  • Support other payroll-related activities as required.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field

  • 2–3 years of experience in payroll operations

  • Knowledge of local tax and labor legislation.

  • Advanced Excel skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for consulting with internal and external clients.
