Position Title:  Recreational Lead Instructor

Location:  Community Education

Immediate Supervisor:    Youth Recreation Coordinator

Schedule:

  • School Year: Schedule varies Monday-Friday 2:30-4:30
  • Summer: June 8, 2026 - August 20, 2026 30-35 hours per week

ISD 876 offers a comprehensive benefits package for employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week (130 hours per month average over a 9 month period). This position averages less than 30 hours per week and does not qualify for benefits.

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Recreation and Facilities Coordinator, the lead recreational instructor is responsible for providing instruction and planning of youth recreational programs of Annandale School District. May work at a variety of levels teaching different skills to either individuals or groups of youth.

Recreation and Facilities Coordinator 6 Non-Exempt
Job Summary: Under the general direction of the Recreation and Facilities Coordinator, the lead recreational
instructor is responsible for providing instruction and planning of youth recreational programs of Annandale
School District. May work at a variety of levels teaching different skills to either individuals or groups of youth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Plan individual lessons and activities
2. Develop knowledge of materials and repertoire for students at different stages of their development
3. Maintains communication with parents, students, and Community Education
a. Communicate clearly with students and parents
b. Assist with marketing efforts including promoting classes, registrations and special events as
requested
c. Attend special events as requested
4. Plan and structure recreational practices and potential meets
5. Attend meetings, workshops and training sessions as directed by the Recreation and Facilities
Coordinator.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
Education Training and Experience Requirements:
● Must possess subject matter expertise in instructional area
● Must have good organizational skills and demonstrate dependability, promptness, and punctuality
● Must be able to manage groups of students in large group settings and other instructional environments
● Must be a team leader and promote team cohesiveness
● Must be able to work independently, be enthusiastic, and take initiative
● Must demonstrate a professional, positive attitude when working with staff, parents, and community
contacts.
License/Certification Requirements:
● Certification in first aid and CPR will be required after hire.

activities, events or services
● Ability to work individually or in a group and take initiative.
● Excellent communication skills (oral and written)
● Demonstrated organizational skills
● Applying judgment and discretion in handling problems and issues in accordance with the policies and
procedures of the District and the department
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Physical requirements associated with the position can be best summarized as follows:
Light Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects and up to 10 pounds frequently to
lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
