Job Summary: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repairs, installations and upkeep of various pieces of equipment. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring all equipment, machinery, and systems are well maintained and function efficiently. This position leads a team and is responsible for coordinating and prioritizing maintenance tasks to maintain a safe environment.
Essential Duties:
Supervises the day-to-day operations of the maintenance shop
Streamline operations with a focus on standard operating procedures
Provides service estimates and cost specific repair data that supports departmental budget planning
Maintain a positive and professional attitude toward customers at all times
Communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of internal and external staff
Direct work flow of maintenance and repairs and project schedules to completion in a timely manner.
Provide technical expertise to assist maintenance technicians in diagnosing and repairing complex issues.
Ensure execution of proper mechanical procedures, methods, tools, and techniques necessary to affect proper maintenance and repairs.
Troubleshoot equipment and systems, implementing effective solutions.
Ensure maintenance work is carried out to high-quality standards and in adherence to company policies.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work logs, reports, and equipment history.
Provide regular reports on maintenance progress, performance metrics, and project status to management.
Identify training needs within the maintenance team and develop/mentor team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
Communicate with drivers, dispatchers and management to determine which repairs are necessary, determine priority and provide estimated time of completion.
Maintain company premises and facilities in clean and hygienic condition.
Implement and enforce safety protocols and compliance with relevant regulations, ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out with a focus on safety.
Travel within designated region

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of maintenance staff.
Directs assigned tasks and provides assistance as needed.
Recruits and interviews prospective employees and chooses the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job.
Provides orientation and training for new employees.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed according to policy.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Driver’s license in state of residency with acceptable driving record
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to the company random drug and alcohol program
Experience: at least 5 years diesel technician and at least 3 years in a supervisory role
Proficiency in basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and Google Workspace as well as using computerized maintenance management systems and relevant software including Davie software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work collaboratively with team members and other departments
Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in varying weather conditions
Ability to work any schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Cummings Insite and PACCAR Davie software
Vocational or Technical training in diesel mechanics, maintenance, welding, or a related field

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required for extended periods to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch or crawl. Flexibility including the ability to maneuver body into unusual positions to get at hard-to reach parts and frequent stretching, bending, reaching, and twisting. Ability to lift up objects that are 30 lbs over head and carry and move objects 60 lbs.
Hand and finger dexterity: frequently have to grasp heavy parts and maneuver them into place. Ability to support the part while tightening screws or fit another part into place. Some parts and equipment require very precise adjustments, or the part may go into an area that is too small for the hand, so technicians need good coordination between the thumb and forefinger.
Steady hands: The job requires holding one or both arms steady while working on a vehicle, sometimes for several minutes. Technicians need the strength to keep their hands steady even if their arms are taxed.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision especially when working on electrical systems, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and make out small details. Hearing abilities to differentiate between sounds or locate the source of an unusual sound.
Communication: Ability to speak with internal customers to determine the nature of the problem or to explain the work performed. Ability to discuss work with other technicians or supervisors. Ability to make self understood as well as be able to understand what others are saying.
Work Environment: The duties of this job are performed in both a shop and office environment, a light industrial environment, and outdoors, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to equipment. Exposure to various climate conditions, fumes, dust, odors, oil/grease, and gasses. A technician must be focused on safety and works with a variety of potentially harmful substances, and the equipment can pose dangers if not handled properly. Must be safety conscious and willing to follow all safety rules at all times to protect themselves, their coworkers, and their customers.
