JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES:
The Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) plays a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to a diverse population. Working under the direct supervision of a licensed physician or registered nurse, the MA performs a blend of clinical and administrative duties to ensure efficient clinic operations and a positive patient experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct Patient Support:
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including taking and accurately documenting vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, oxygen saturation, weight, height).
- Assist patients with comfort, positioning, and mobility as needed.
- Document patient observations and care provided accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Clinical Assistance:
- Prepare and clean exam rooms before and after patient visits, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are readily available.
- Assist nurses and providers with minor procedures and examinations.
- Collect and process specimens (e.g., urine, blood) according to established protocols and ensure proper labeling for laboratory analysis.
- Perform basic wound care and dressing changes as directed by a licensed nurse or provider.
- Assist with inventory and stocking of medical supplies in exam rooms and clinical areas.
- Administrative Support:
- Greet patients warmly and direct them to appropriate areas.
- Assist with scheduling follow-up appointments or tests as needed.
- Answer patient questions within the scope of practice and refer clinical questions to the appropriate licensed professional.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) certification in the state of Vermont.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of [X, e.g., 1 year] of experience as an LNA, preferably in an outpatient, clinic, or community health center setting.
- Proficiency in taking and documenting vital signs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a compassionate and patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, sometimes challenging environment with a diverse patient population.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
