Physical Therapist

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:

  • Provide family centered developmentally appropriate physical therapy services to infants and toddlers (birth to age 3)
  • Deliver services in the child's natural environment such as the family home
  • Evaluate infants and toddlers to assess gross motor development, mobility, posture, strength and functional abilities
  • Develop and implement individualized family support plans based on family priorities
  • Provide direct physical therapy services using evidence based practices
  • Coach and educate caregivers to embed strategies into daily routines
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
  • Monitor progress and adjust intervention strategies as needed
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Travel to home and community based service locations

 

Qualifications

Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:

  • Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist
  • Experience with pediatric patients
  • Knowledge of child development and family centered practices
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to coach and collaborate effectively with families
  • Ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse family systems
  • Ability to engage in active play with young children

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications: 

  • Experience with IDEA Part C Early Intervention
  • Experience with the BTOTS Database
  • Bilingual skills (English/Spanish)
  • Experience using routines based interventions

The purpose of the Baby Watch Early Intervention Program (BWEIP) is to enhance early growth and development in infants and toddlers, who have developmental delays or disabilities, by providing individualized support and services to the child and their family.  Early Intervention (EI) services are provided through a family coaching model that focuses on helping children meet goals in all areas of development.
