What you’ll be doing
The Tennessee Titans are seeking a proactive and pragmatic Counsel to join our in-house legal team. This individual will report directly to the Associate General Counsel and will represent the Club in a wide range of legal and risk management matters with a focus on transactional work. The attorney will collaborate frequently with the Associate General Counsel and Vice President, General Counsel to perform a wide range of legal-related tasks. The position will require excellent business judgment, problem-solving, and strategic thinking, with an ability to work independently and with others in a collegial, fast-paced team environment.
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and other legal documents necessary to facilitate transactions including sponsorship, licensing, ticketing, vendor (including software and AI), technology and event agreements.
- Research and draft memoranda, opinions, and correspondence on a range of legal issues.
- Provide clear, concise, timely, and practical advice and recommendations.
- Draft and review NDAs, waivers, sweepstakes, contests, and promotion rules.
- Review advertising and promotional material to ensure compliance with team and NFL rules.
- Support compliance efforts related to privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity matters.
- Identify, evaluate, and, where possible, mitigate liability issues with respect to team activities.
- Perform duties, special projects, and various other tasks that may be assigned by the Associate General Counsel.
- Proactively develop positive working relationships with staff members and other departments to cultivate an open path of communication with the Legal Department.
Qualifications – What you’ll bring
Required
- Admission to the Tennessee bar or ability to qualify as an in-house attorney.
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience as a practicing attorney, preferably at a full-service law firm and or large corporate legal department.
- Experience drafting and reviewing commercial contracts.
- Experience fostering successful interactions and communicating with a diverse array of colleagues, clients, stakeholders, and leaders at all levels.
- The highest commitment to high ethical and professional standards, including personal integrity and sound judgement.
- Self-motivated and a demonstrated ability to efficiently project manage multiple tasks and initiatives at the same time.
- Ability to leverage resources and quickly adapt to and learn new areas of the law.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to prioritize and work as a team with other departments in a high-performing and high-profile environment.
