About the Department

The City of Beloit is seeking a detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join the Public Works Engineering Division. This position involves skilled technical engineering work essential to the city's infrastructure.

Primary responsibilities include the operation of precision surveying equipment—such as engineering levels and GPS units—with speed and accuracy, as well as the performance of construction inspections on public works projects. The role further entails developing comprehensive plans and specifications, preparing construction cost estimates and pay requests, recording as-built information, and generating technical maps. Additionally, this position serves as a vital resource by providing technical support to other departments and divisions as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

1. A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
2. Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university with course work in civil engineering, construction management, surveying or a closely related field is preferred.
3. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
