Job Description

Position Summary:

This position conducts stress analyses on designs of experimental, prototype, or production aircraft mission equipment, and related components to evaluate ability to withstand stresses imposed during flight or ground operations imposed by static or dynamic loads due to operational or test conditions. 


Essential Functions:

    May be responsible for a portion of a project with significant scope and complexity

    Contributes to the department or business unit by applying their advanced knowledge of one or more functional areas

    Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural material for product design, or operation of product

    Study preliminary specifications and design requirements to determine strength  characteristics of parts, assemblies, and total airframe

    Consult with design personnel regarding results of analyses and need for additional analysis, test or design modifications

    Formulate mathematical models of stress problems or devise other methods of computer analysis or simulation to assist in stress analysis

   Create test plans and coordinate internal and external qualification testing and document results with test reports

    Participate in static testing as needed for validation of system components or installation

    Participate in peer technical reviews and final design sign-off

    Estimates proposals for bid hours and technical compliance

Job Specifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

    Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask

    Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail

    Excellent teamwork skills and high degree of initiative required

    Excellent communication both written and verbal

    Work independently and possess a high level of self-motivation and initiative

    Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

    Must be proficient with MS Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

    Basic experience with SolidWorks

    Basic experience with Femap or other FEA software experience preferred

    Basic knowledge of structural analysis techniques


Education, Certifications and Experience:

    BS or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or related field

    0-3 years of professional experience in a stress related field required 


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Working conditions are normal for that of a manufacturing/machine shop/office environment.
