PRIMARY PURPOSE
Clean and maintain district facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.

- Ability to read and understand instructions for cleaning, maintenance, and safety procedures
- Knowledge of minor repair and maintenance techniques
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipment

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Cleaning
- Maintain a cleaning schedule that includes floors, chalkboards/whiteboards, wastebaskets, windows, furniture, equipment, and restrooms.
- Keep school buildings and grounds, including sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, and play areas, neat and clean.
- Comply with local laws and district procedures for storage and disposal of trash.
- Assist in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as needed.
Maintenance and Repair
- Assist with lunchroom setup, including arranging tables and chairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort, health, and safety of students and staff.
- Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to the principal or supervisor.
- Regulate heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity.
- Move furniture or equipment within the building as directed.
- Assist in setting up facilities for special events.
Safety
- Assist with opening and closing the building each school day, ensuring all exit doors and panic hardware function properly during occupancy.
- Follow established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
- Inspect machines and equipment daily for safety and efficiency.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques, including proper lifting and climbing practices.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions and promptly report conditions that cannot be immediately corrected.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Tools/Equipment Used: Floor buffer, floor stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, carpet shampooer, lawn mower, edger, and weed trimmer.
Posture: Frequent standing, sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
Motion: Frequent walking, climbing stairs and ladders, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching.
Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis.
Environment: Work indoors and outdoors, including slippery or uneven surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, and cleaning chemicals; may work irregular or prolonged hours.
Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress.
