Job Description

We are seeking two temporary Welder / Fabricators.  End date of assignment currently undetermined.

The Welder/Fabricator at Nomad GCS is responsible for performing high-quality welding and metal fabrication using MIG, TIG, spool gun, and push-pull techniques on both metal and aluminum materials. This role requires interpreting CAD drawings and blueprints, applying sound judgment and experience to meet project specifications while maintaining efficiency and minimizing rework. The Fabricator/Welder will cross train in multiple areas including flooring, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, cabinetry, and technology integration, supporting a wide range of production processes. Candidates should have 2-5+ years of welding and fabrication experience, strong math and measurement skills, and a solid understanding of machines, tools, and quality control processes.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Understand fabrication concepts, practices, and procedures within the welding field.
  • Fabricate and weld metal and/or aluminum by applying the appropriate welding techniques, using MIG, TIG, spool gun, and push-pull.
  • Fabricate following CAD, using experience and judgment to accomplish tasks.
  • Maintain a good proficiency rate while avoiding any rework. Complete extra training to achieve a higher level of skill and accuracy.
  • Crosstrain to work on a variety of processes including, but not limited to flooring installation, electrical systems, plumbing, door and window installation, stabilizing systems, HVAC, cabinet and countertop making, welding, and technology integration.
  • Work under general supervision.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.


BASIC KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:

  • Be knowledgeable about machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Be knowledge about raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Have a basic knowledge of the Metric and Imperial Measurement Systems and how to calculate with them.
  • Demonstrate understanding and application of Nomad Core Values.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Regular use of hands and arms to manipulate, handle, feel, reach, or operate objects, tools, or controls.
  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, and crawling.
  • Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Assistance required for anything heavier than 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors.
  • Must have the physical stamina to work in awkward positions and stand for prolonged periods.


WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

  • Partially environmentally controlled indoor area with temperatures fluctuating between 60°F and 100°F, typically maintained around 70°F.
  • Occasional outdoor work required.
  • Exposure to noise levels ranging from low to loud; safety hearing devices provided as needed.
  • Possible exposure to household and commercial chemicals; adherence to safety protocols outlined in Safety Data Sheets (SDS) required.
  • Mandatory wearing of OSHA-approved safety eyewear and closed-toed shoes at all times on the production floor.
  • Use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE), such as respirators or protective coveralls, may be necessary for specific tasks.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED required. Additional education or an apprenticeship desired.
  • 2-5+ years of previous welding and metal fabrication experience, including interpreting blueprints, specifications, diagrams, schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
  • 2-5+ years of experience and knowledge of MIG, TIG, spool gun, or push-pull welding applications.
  • Good math skills with an understanding of numerical data and taking accurate measurements.
  • Must have good communication, organizational, and time management skills.
