Job Summary:

This is a mid-level individual contributor position in which work assignments require the application of fundamental principles, expertise, initiative and creativity to develop and implement lean processes, systems, plans, and procedures to assure that quality results are obtained for all manufactured products and deliverables. Performs Quality and Process Control roles in support of specific product lines. Actively engages as a team member in the transition of new products into production manufacturing. Responsible for the introduction and maintenance of procedures, work instructions and process controls to meet customer and government regulatory requirements. Develops and maintains a Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement and Total Quality Management Culture. May assists in the preparation of new product proposals. Effectively communicates with customers and suppliers on Quality topics. Responsible for the preparation of First Article Inspection packages in accordance with AS9102 standard.

 

Responsibilities and Tasks (listed in bullet format) in order of priority to be successful

  • Working with Engineering, Production, Manufacturing Engineering and Supply Chain Management, assists in the coordination of the smooth transition of new products into production.
  • Participate in contract reviews for all Quality requirements. Issue results to all Operations departments and Supply Chain for understanding and implementation.
  • Supports new product introduction and transition to production activities including Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis and the implementation of process controls.
  • Provide production floor support on technical issues requiring clarification or rework techniques ensuring efficient, cost effective manufacturing results.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and support proposal efforts for new programs.
  • Perform ongoing analyses of processes and methods, yields and defect rates and recommend improvements for optimum production efficiency and quality.
  • Actively support lean manufacturing project efforts with Production, Buyer/Planners, and Facilities in order to establish efficient lean production operations, throughput analysis, work place layout, and facilities for existing or new programs.
  • Assist in feasibility studies relative to plans for improved production efforts.
  • Maintain effective liaison with the program engineering staff, and other departments to provide resolution to quality problems and increased efficiency.
  • Analyze statistical data to evaluate trends, investigate failures completely to determine the root cause and take appropriate corrective action to revise design, work instructions, and inspection/test instructions to prevent failure recurrence.
  • Analyze engineering change orders (ECO) for effect on quality, product producibility, test equipment requirements, work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Review and disposition non-conforming material instituting preventive measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform product inspection on assigned programs when requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Education, Experience/Knowledge & License/Certification

  • An Associate's degree in Engineering or similar technical discipline and 10 to 15 years of various quality responsibilities featuring a specialty such as precision measurement, optics fabrication and measurement, or electronics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
