Position Summary:
The Production Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment within the Custom Packaging Center (CPC), with a primary focus on automated and semi-automated machinery. This role supports production uptime by performing advanced diagnostics, including interpreting schematics and interfacing with equipment systems. This position focuses on production equipment reliability, preventative maintenance execution, and minimizing downtime.
Position Responsibilities:
• Maintain and troubleshoot production equipment including conveyors, case packers, de-palletizers, and automated systems.
• Perform hands-on diagnostics including reading schematics and interfacing with machinery.
• Execute preventative maintenance (PM) tasks aligned with maintenance schedules.
• Complete work orders and maintenance tickets within a CMMS system.
• Track parts usage and support inventory accuracy by recording materials used and identifying needed components
• Coordinate repair priorities with leadership based on production impact and urgency
• Assist with equipment setup, calibration, and changeovers as needed
• Support vendor coordination for repairs and maintenance activities as required
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA, LOTO, and company safety standards
• Partner with production teams to maintain efficient and reliable operations
Desired Skills
• Strong troubleshooting ability across mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
• Working knowledge or aptitude in PLCs and HMIs preferred.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems or maintenance tracking software.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize work.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience:
• Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a maintenance role, industrial, or production experience.
• Experience with automated production equipment preferred.
• Exposure to CMMS systems preferred.
• Forklift certification required or ability to obtain.
• Safety certification (OSHA) plus
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude, including experience or demonstrated ability to work with HMI systems, PLCs, and electrical troubleshooting.
Working Conditions:
This position operates in a production and warehouse environment with exposure to moving machinery, moderate to loud noise levels, and varying temperatures. The role requires working around automated equipment and following all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures.
The employee must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods of time. The position may require lifting and moving materials up to 50–75 lbs, as well as the use of tools and equipment to perform maintenance and repairs.
This role may require working at heights, operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, and responding to urgent maintenance needs to support production operations. Occasional extended hours, overtime, or on-call support may be required based on business needs.
