Financial Reporting & Public Company Compliance
- Own the accuracy and timeliness of all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
- Lead all aspects of SOX compliance, including the design, maintenance, and enforcement of internal controls over financial reporting; perform quarterly user access reviews; serve as the primary point of accountability for control effectiveness.
- Complete ESCO annual and quarterly reporting requests with accuracy and in compliance with required timelines.
- Serve as the primary liaison to external auditors and ESCO Internal Audit; lead coordination of all annual financial audits and any additional accounting reviews.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and stay current with evolving accounting standards and public company reporting requirements.
Accounting Operations & Controls
- Oversee all core accounting operations, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory Accounting, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Credit, Bank Reconciliation, and General Ledger.
- Ensure accurate and timely account reconciliations and supporting documentation across all accounting functions at month-end and year-end.
- Review, approve, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and work instructions; implement updates as needed to strengthen controls and ensure compliance.
- Ensure Sales Tax registration, reporting, and filing obligations are met across all nexus states.
- Review and approve required government surveys and regulatory filings.
- Approve customer credit terms; partner with Sales and Supply Chain Services on Letters of Credit issuance and collections.
Systems & Technology
- Lead the administration of the company’s ERP system, including setup and maintenance of modules, add-on software, and system upgrades; continually assess ERP capabilities to ensure alignment with business growth needs.
- Evaluate and champion technology investments that improve the efficiency and scalability of the accounting function.
- Lead cross-departmental process improvement and system implementation projects.
Strategic Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
- As a member of the Operating Group, participate in company-wide strategic discussions and lead the Accounting team through relevant organizational initiatives.
- Partner closely with the FP&A Director on all aspects of financial reporting and analysis; provide backup coverage for FP&A and accounting functions as necessary.
- Develop and own the Accounting department’s goals as part of the broader Finance & Accounting strategic plan, ensuring alignment with NRG’s values, culture, and long-term direction.
- Conduct financial analysis in support of business decisions, special projects, and senior leadership requests.
People Leadership & Team Development
- Provide direct leadership and supervision of the Accounting team, including goal-setting, performance reviews, compensation reviews, and ongoing coaching and mentoring.
- Foster a high-performing team culture grounded in accountability, continuous development, and alignment with NRG’s values.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business; CPA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years in a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience in a public company environment, including SOX compliance and SEC reporting, required.
- Deep working knowledge of GAAP and all aspects of the full accounting cycle.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in ERP systems administration, with the ability to evaluate, implement, and optimize financial software platforms.
- Solid understanding of systems thinking — ability to see the interconnection between accounting operations and the broader organization.
- Hands-on capability to understand and engage with the detailed components of accounting operations when needed.

Compensation Range: $160,000 - $180,000
