Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:
 

The Student Learning Support Specialist provides advanced, curriculum aligned instructional support to prelicensure nursing students through Student Support Services. This role delivers targeted supplemental instruction, assesses student learning needs, and collaborates closely with nursing faculty to support academic progression, clinical reasoning, and professional competency development. The position requires nursing licensure, clinical expertise, and a strong understanding of nursing education outcomes and accreditation expectations.

Primary position responsibilities:

  • Instructional Support & Supplemental Teaching: Design and deliver structured supplemental instruction focused on identified student learning gaps, including clinical reasoning, dosage calculation, professional communication, and test-taking strategies aligned with nursing course objectives.
  • Curriculum & Faculty Collaboration: Partner with course coordinators and faculty to ensure instructional support aligns with course content, student assessment data, program learning outcomes, and accreditation standards.
  • Student Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Assess individual and group student performance using academic data, course assessments, and faculty input; document progress and outcomes consistent with instructional expectations.
  • Application of Professional Nursing Judgment: Utilize active RN licensure and clinical experience to guide students in applying theoretical knowledge to clinical scenarios, prioritization, and professional decision-making.
  • Academic Coaching & Learning Planning: Develop individualized learning plans for students at academic risk, incorporating evidence-based instructional strategies to promote retention and progression.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of instructional activities, student engagement, and outcomes; provide summary reports to faculty and academic leadership as requested.

    Required EducationMaster's degree in Nursing is required.
      
    Required Experience4-6 years experience in a similar role is required.
