JOB SUMMARY:

CCE Student Coordinators on the Government Team support the student-run web resource URGOV, support CCE’s student voter engagement efforts, and lead local and state government programming for the CCE. URGOV’s mission is to provide a platform to educate and empower full participation in Richmond City government and beyond. CCE government programming includes excursions to Richmond City Council and School Board meetings, Spiders Vote programming, and other related events.
 

CCE Student Coordinators are expected to work about 4-6 hours a week. Hours are generally between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., but could include other evening/weekend programs with prior notification. At various points in the semester, these hours may include meetings and professional development trainings. Regular team meetings will be scheduled considering availability once all student coordinators are hired. Team meetings will not exceed more than three hours per month.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Plan, promote, and implement CCE events focused on local and state government

  • Plan, promote, and implement Spiders Vote programming

  • Attend or view Richmond City Council and School Board Meetings and post recaps on URGOV

  • Create content for URGOV related to local government and elections


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Interest in engaging with local government and student voters

  • Ability to work cooperatively and in a leadership role with students, staff, faculty, and community members
