Saw Operator
Location: 203A Log Canoe Circle, Stevensville, MD 21666-2128
Work Hours: 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday
Hourly Rate: $17 - $19/hr

Hydrasearch is looking for a Saw Operator to join our team in Stevensville, MD! The Saw Operator is responsible for cutting raw materials (bar, plate, pipe, and tubing) to precise dimensions while maintaining strict control of material inventory and traceability. This role supports internal material movement and ensures accurate tracking of stock to support production in a regulated manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Production Cutting: Operate band and cold saws to cut material per work orders; measure and inspect finished cuts for dimensional accuracy.

  • Traceability: Verify material type, size, and heat/lot traceability before and after cutting; maintain proper labeling throughout the process.

  • Inventory Control: Manage stock levels of bar, pipe, and tube; track usage and remnants (drops) in the ERP/MRP system.

  • Material Handling: Operate forklifts to load/unload deliveries and stage material for production.

  • Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance including blade changes and coolant management.

  • Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and support quality teams with first-piece verification.

What We're Looking For:

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Technical Skills: Proven ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and work orders.

  • Measurement: Proficiency in using precision measuring tools, including tape measures and calipers.

  • Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy for entering inventory transactions and data entry.

  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs independently.

  • Safety: Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and proper material handling practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience operating industrial saws or similar metal-fabrication equipment.

  • Certifications: Current or prior Forklift Operator Certification.

  • Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., Aerospace, Defense, or Medical Device).

  • Technical Familiarity: Experience working with diverse metals such as titanium, stainless steel, and aluminum.

  • Standards: Exposure to ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality management systems and an understanding of material certifications (MTRs).
