Job Description
Dean of Curriculum 

Location: Mevers School of Excellence 

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Reports To: Principal

Position Overview:


The Dean of Curriculum provides leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school’s academic curriculum. This role involves ensuring that curriculum delivery is effective and aligned with state standards and the needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and review of the school’s academic curriculum.
  • Provide support and professional development for teachers to improve instructional practices.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to evaluate and adjust curriculum and instruction.
  • Analyze student data to inform curriculum decisions and instructional strategies.
  • Ensure that the curriculum is aligned with state standards and best practices.
  • Support the implementation of differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
  • Promote a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Oversees the management of state and local testing.
  • Help monitors teacher certification along with administration.
  • Oversees tutoring and summer school programs in collaboration with academic coaches and school leadership.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Valid South Carolina teaching certification.
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional leadership.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work Environment


This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required.

This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
