SUMMARY
Marist ELC is seeking qualified candidates to serve as substitute teachers. Age groups range from infant through Pre-K. The ideal candidate will hold a 4-year degree or equivalent experience working with young children. Candidates should be professional and embrace working in a collaborative and collegial environment.
SCOPE OR RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibility for helping to implement ongoing developmentally appropriate activities that promote cognitive, physical, language, social and emotional development of each child enrolled in the class in collaboration with the lead teachers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Arrive promptly and be ready for the day.
- Help maintain a positive, well-organized, loving, and safe environment for all children and families.
- Establish a positive relationship with each child and each child’s family.
- Support lead teachers and help implement daily activities.
- Observe children and communicate effectively with the team.
- Help maintain daily communication with families both in-person and via Tadpoles.
- Keep abreast of current knowledge and practices in the field of early childhood education.
- Maintain policies and procedures inside and outside the classroom.
- Understand and execute emergency procedures and protocols when needed.
- Clean and sterilize equipment and toys daily; ensure the room is clean at the end of the day; organize toys so the room is ready for the next day.
- Report any family requests, complaints, or suggestions to the Director.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
