    Special Education Paraprofessional (Aide) at Auburn Vilage School

    6.5 hours per day,
    187 days per year (days and benefit days prorated based on start date)
    $18.00/Hour

               
    DISTRICT: Auburn
    POSITION: Paraeducator (Classroom and Special Education Aides)
    SUPERVISOR: Principal / Director of Student Services
    POSITION GOAL:
    To support students and/or implement individual student plans under the direction of a certified teacher or licensed professional.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education: High school diploma or equivalent
    Certification: N/A
    Experience: N/A
    Criminal Record Check: Required per NH RSA 189:13-a
    Pre-Employment Medical Exam: Required per NH RSA 200:36 and 275:3
    EVALUATION:
    Performance of position responsibilities will be evaluated annually in accordance with the approved administrative procedure for staff evaluations.
    GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Demonstrate aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance.
    2. Specialized training with individuals with special needs.
    3. Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Implement instructional and behavioral plans, activities, and classroom accommodations as directed by supervisor or his/her designee.
    2. Provide a safe environment, supervise students, and accommodate students' mental and physical needs.
    3. Instruct and/or assist students in basic life skills, general behavior, and organizational skills.
    4. Repeat instructions, help with assignments, and keep students on task and focused during class as needed.
    5. Assist students with use of computers, adaptive devices, all augmentive communications, and prepare and insure proper functioning of equipment to accomplish instructional objectives.
    6. Assist and/or instruct students as required in activities of daily living to include, but not limited to, toileting, self-care, eating, communicating, changing classes, wheel chair transport and transfer, and use of special equipment, with proper training.
    7. Assist student(s) team to develop and implement age-appropriate opportunities for social interactions.
    8. Participate in student conferences/program planning sessions as requested.
    9. Refer all inquiries/concerns about the student to the teacher.
    10. Provide coverage for other paraeducators when needed.
    11. Maintain home/school communication when requested.
    12. Perform clerical duties as needed (i.e. reports, forms, and other related paperwork).
    13. Maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
    14. Demonstrate positive work habits by showing initiative, cooperation, dependability, efficiency, and productivity.
    15. Follow the guidelines of confidentiality as established by the school district.
    16. Attend and participate in relevant training sessions, meetings, and professional growth activities as requested/required.
    17. Perform in a professional manner when interacting with students, parents, faculty, administration, and co-workers.
