Every Atlas gun is machined from billet aluminum and steel. We combine the art of hand metal working with our state-of-the-art, multi-axis CNC machine shop. Every Atlas gun is hand built; the team assembles and fits our pistols one at a time. 

 

Full Job Description  

The CNC Gunsmith is a hybrid position that utilizes both CNC and Manual Machining processes. This position is the first stage of the pistol build process, where all major components are perfectly matched using a HAAS Mini-Mill as well as hand worked to achieve a perfect fit for the next steps in the pistol build process. The CNC Gunsmith will measure, CNC Machine, hand file, lap and hand fit components that are the foundation for all our pistol builds.

Essential Responsibilities:   

  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, angle of cut, or enter  commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and paperwork for processes completed.
  • Able to interpret drawings, workpiece inspections and understand both M and G codes.
  • Work efficiently with other departments to ensure production goals are met, and customer orders are completed on time.
  • Hand assemble pistols according to company specifications and customer needs.
  • Ability to master the complete assembly, function, fitting, and repair of Atlas Guns.
  • Effectively execute responsibilities to complete assignments within required parameters and pre-established time-management standards.
  • Perform housekeeping activities to keep the work area clean and organized.
  •  Assists with other assignments or special projects, as required.

* Requires sufficient mobility to walk, stand, kneel, or bend for prolonged periods of time; heavy, moderate, or light lifting; and operate motorized equipment and vehicles. 

 

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in 3-Axis vertical milling and CNC operations on a Fanuc-controlled Mill.
  • Previous gunsmith knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-oriented with strong initiative/drive.
  • Proven ability to successfully execute multiple tasks as needed in a deadline-oriented environment, flexible to changing priorities and demands as needed.
  • Knowledge of 1911 Pistols, operation, and firearm safety.
  • Experience being an active team member with the capability to assist in accomplishing a variety of tasks as needed while also sharing personal insight with the team.
