The Board has identified the following qualifications as having particular importance for the position of Speech/Language Pathologist.

- Possess a comprehensive understanding of Ohio's Special Education Policies & Procedures
- Candidates must hold two licenses: a teaching certificate/license by the Ohio Department of Education and a license issued by the Ohio Board of Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology
- Must have regular access to a reliable automobile for possible travel within the county
