CTE Nurse Assistant (CNA) Instructor: Full Time or Part Time

The district is committed to flexibility in structuring this position and will consider full-time or part-time arrangements based on the candidate's qualifications, availability, program enrollment, and clinical requirements.

JOB SUMMARY

To provide high-quality Career Technical Education instruction in the Nurse Assistant program that prepares students for entry-level healthcare careers and state certification. The instructor will deliver classroom and clinical instruction aligned to Idaho CTE standards, industry competencies, and workforce expectations. The teacher will promote professionalism, integrity, and patient-centered care while supporting students in developing the technical, academic, and employability skills necessary for success in healthcare careers.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Idaho teaching certificate with appropriate CTE endorsement OR ability to obtain CTE Occupational Specialist certification in Health Professions
  • Current, unrestricted Idaho RN license
  • Minimum of 2–4 years of recent experience in long-term care, acute care, or related healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of the Idaho Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses requirements for Nurse Assistant certification
  • Experience supervising students in clinical settings preferred
  • Strong understanding of infection control, patient safety, HIPAA, and healthcare compliance standards
  • Ability to coordinate and maintain clinical partnerships with healthcare facilities
  • Knowledge of Idaho CTE standards and Workplace Readiness Assessment (WRA) competencies preferred
  • Experience working with secondary students preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to integrate employability skills, professionalism, and integrity into instruction
  • Proficient in the use of instructional technology and electronic health record simulation tools
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with administration, school nurse, and community partners
  • Ability to lift and assist students in simulated patient-care activities consistent with CNA training requirements
  • Maintain confidentiality of students and patient information

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY TO: Building Principal and CTE Director

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction

  • Prepare and deliver Nurse Assistant curriculum aligned with Idaho CTE standards
  • Provide classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction in accordance with state guidelines
  • Teach patient care skills, including vital signs, infection control, safety, communication, and professionalism
  • Prepare students for the state Nurse Assistant certification examination
  • Integrate employability skills, including integrity, work ethic, communication, and teamwork
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and industry-standard lab environment
  • Utilize industry equipment and simulation tools to enhance instruction
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Prepare students for district, state, and federal assessments as appropriate

 Clinical Coordination

  • Establish and maintain partnerships with approved clinical facilities
  • Coordinate student placements and ensure compliance with facility requirements
  • Supervise students in clinical settings to ensure safe and professional conduct
  • Ensure all required documentation, background checks, immunizations, and compliance requirements are completed
  • Serve as liaison between the district and healthcare partners

 Program Oversight

  • Maintain compliance with Idaho CTE program standards and state approval requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of student competencies and certification readiness
  • Manage inventory of supplies and equipment
  • Assist in program recruitment and student advisement
  • Support grant reporting and program improvement efforts

 Professional Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with students, families, and healthcare partners
  • Attend faculty meetings, CTE professional development, and required healthcare updates
  • Participate in district initiatives supporting CTE and workforce development
  • Remain current with healthcare industry standards and instructional best practices
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of required documentation

Other Duties

  • Uphold school rules and district policies
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Salary based on experience and qualifications. Position qualifies for benefits including health, dental, vision, and life insurance; PERSI retirement; and access to optional ancillary insurance and retirement products.
