JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
CLASSIFICATION: Administrative Support
RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Specialized Education or Designee
JOB FUNCTION: The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) supports students with behavioral needs by
conducting assessments, developing and monitoring behavior intervention plans, and using data to guide
interventions. They collaborate with educators, families, and service providers to ensure consistent, trauma-
informed, and legally compliant behavioral supports are implemented effectively across school environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develop comprehensive, legally defensible Positive
Behavior Support Plans (PBSP’s)
2. Analyze behavioral and academic data to guide individualized support strategies
3. Observe students in various school settings (classroom, bus, cafeteria, etc.) to assess triggers and supports
4. Design, model, and coach staff on the implementation of proactive, trauma-informed, and culturally
responsive behavioral supports
5. Collaborate with instructional teams to embed positive behavior supports within academic instruction
6. Provide support for students with intensive behavior needs and collaborate on crisis intervention planning
7. Partner with general and special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and service providers to implement
behavior plans with fidelity
8. Provide professional development, in-service training, and ongoing coaching on PBIS, data collection, de-
escalation, and replacement behaviors
9. Work closely with families and community partners to support consistent implementation of strategies
across environments
10. Ensure accurate and timely data collection and documentation to support student progress monitoring
11. Assist in the development and implementation of assessments tools to conduct functional assessments and
analyses when appropriate, and to develop appropriate behavior/strategies to teach appropriate behavior
and reduce maladaptive behaviors, ensuring plans are followed with fidelity.
12. Support compliance with IDEA, FAPE, LRE, and state/federal laws as related to behavioral services
13. Participate in IEP meetings and student support team meetings as a behavior specialist
