I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

Under the strategic direction of the Director of Workforce Advancement & Strategies, the Credentialing and Continuing Education Manager leads the strategy, operations, and growth of NASW’s Credentialing, Continuing Education (CE) Approval, and Specialty Practice programs. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, strengthening revenue-generating product lines, building strategic partnerships, and developing a high-performing team.

 

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Direct the full lifecycle management of NASW National credentialing, CE approval, accreditation, and specialty practice programs including developing, documenting, and continuously improving policies, procedures, and workflows to ensure efficiency, transparency, and compliance.
  • Build, enhance, and scale revenue-generating NASW credentialing, CE approval, specialty practice products and services. This includes identifying new market opportunities, establishing pricing strategies, and developing product enhancements to drive earned revenue growth.
  • Track key performance indicators, including application volume, renewal rates, customer acquisition, and net revenue, using NASW technology and software systems. Manage program/product budgets, control expenses, and ensure financial performance meets or exceeds projections.
  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with educational providers, NASW state chapters, institutions, subject matter experts, and external organizations. Negotiate and oversee partnership agreements that expand program reach, enhance value, and generate revenue.
  • Supervise and develop a team of at least five staff members responsible for program administration and customer engagement. Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance management to ensure accountability, a positive team culture and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with NASW departments and teams to align certification and CE requirements with program offerings. This includes collaborating with the NASW Information Technology department to research, procure, and implement technology solutions and automation strategies to streamline product operations and support growth.
  • Ensure consistent, timely, high-quality communication with candidates, providers, partners, and volunteers. Serve as staff liaison to the Credentialing Committee, supporting governance functions and program oversight.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of state licensing requirements and regulatory considerations impacting the social work profession. Ensure credentialing and CE approval processes meet applicable standards and best practices.

 

III. MINIMUM WORK REQUIREMENTS:

 

Skills: 

  • Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously and meet deadlines.  
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while taking proactive initiative to drive projects forward. 
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Strong budget management skills and experience in financial oversight of event activities.  
  • Ability to lead, collaborate, and serve multi-functional project teams. 

 

Knowledge: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, non-profit management, education, business, or a related field. Clinical social workers and/or other mental health professionals with independent licensure are a plus but not required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), a plus.
  • Knowledge of certification, accreditation, continuing education, or professional licensure environments required.

 

Experience: 

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience running credentialing and/or continuing education programs.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage strategic partnerships that expand reach and increase revenue.
  • Strong operational management and process improvement experience.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and revenue targets.

This position is 3 days in office (in DC, by Union Station) and 2 days remote.
