Job Description

JOB TITLE:                Mine Operations Supervisor (410)                             

DEPARTMENT:        Mine Operations  

LOCATION:              Robinson Nevada Mining Company - Ruth, NV

PAY GRADE:            6

POSITION REPORTS TO: Mine Operations Senior Shift Supervisor (409)           

ROTATING SHIFT: Yes

EXEMPT      

 

Purpose & Scope of The Position: 

The Mine Operations Supervisor helps manage a crew of approximately sixty plus equipment operators and all associated mining-related activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Proactively coordinates activities and resources in conjunction with other departments in order to comply with priorities and overall objectives of the mine plan.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Follow safe work procedures and best practices.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Responsible for the quality and quantity of work performed by Crew members.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions.
  • Be a role model to others in safe behavior.
  • Be willing and enthusiastic.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the success of Robinson Nevada Mining Company and KGHM.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience: A minimum of three to five (3-5) years of mine operations or construction experience preferably in an open pit mine environment or large earthmoving excavation environment.
  • Licenses: Valid driver’s license.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering or another related technical field. Equivalent years of related experience can substitute for the Engineering degree requirement.
  • Experience: One to two (1-2) years of supervisory experience.

 

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Focus on Safety.
  • Strong personnel development, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and incident investigation skills.
  • Proven supervisory skills is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mobile equipment including operating and maintaining such equipment.
  • Basic working knowledge of JDE and TCP or equivalent software experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to learn new software.
     

Travel Requirements:

  • N/A

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assists in managing and supervising a Mine Operations crew.
  • Support and assist the Senior Supervisors in their work.
  • Support and assist in the training of other crew members and department members.
  • Participate in job planning.
  • Handle disciplinary action within the operations department.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical, including drug and alcohol testing.
  • Ability to meet the required physical demands, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
