- Complete background clearance/fingerprinting through the District and Maine Department of Education
- Commit to the position for the school year, following the school calendar for professional development, school breaks, and school start/end times
- Work with the University to schedule required courses/classes around the school schedule when possible
- Supports learning opportunities in the following areas: Reading, Writing, Mathematics, and SEL
- Help develop lesson plans, units of study, and instructional materials to provide customized, small, and large group instruction
- Communicate with teachers, community outreach, building leaders, and other staff to enhance the program and outcomes
- Support an effective learning environment through a variety of learning tools, games, and interactive lessons

Residency Education Experience: The Residency Education Experience within the Dayton School Department is a year-long internship experience in which candidates have the opportunity to learn alongside a mentor teacher, and educate students in a co-teaching model with a graduated degree of responsibility phased in over the school year.
Overview: The Residency Education Experience is designed as a year-long internship, allowing candidates to observe and implement all aspects of teaching and managing a classroom from the first day through the final day of school. The Residency Education Experience requires a gradual increase of responsibility, where the Intern and the cooperating teacher/mentor work together in a co-teaching model with shared responsibility. The Residency Education Experience requires increased responsibility working in a classroom and a longer duration of lead teaching. This is a paid position.
