Middle School Geography and American History Teacher


Position Summary


We are seeking an educator to join our Social Studies department to lead instruction in Geography and American History. The ideal candidate possesses deep content knowledge in both disciplines and is skilled at creating an engaging, high-standards environment for middle school students.


Instructional Focus


Geography




  • Develop units covering physical and human geography, including map skills, regional studies, and global systems.




  • Teach students to analyze the relationship between human populations and their environments.




  • Incorporate current events and global data to build spatial literacy and cultural awareness.




American History




  • Deliver a comprehensive survey of American History, focusing on major political, social, and economic developments.




  • Guide students in the analysis of primary and secondary sources to build evidence-based arguments.




  • Foster critical thinking regarding the evolution of American civic life and institutions.




Professional Responsibilities




  • Classroom Management: Maintain a structured, respectful, and inclusive learning environment appropriate for early adolescents.




  • Curriculum & Assessment: Design standards-aligned lesson plans and utilize various assessment methods to monitor and support student growth.




  • Collaboration: Actively participate in faculty meetings and partner with parents to support student success.




  • Instructional Technology: Utilize educational tools and LMS platforms to enhance the learning experience.




Qualifications




  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, or Geography.




  • Certification: Valid State Teaching License (Middle School Social Studies endorsement required).




  • Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in both American historical eras and geographic principles.




  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills for effective interaction with the school community.
