To help us with this, we are searching for an Information Technology Security Manager to join our Technology and Transformation Team, based in Invercargill, on a fixed term basis.

The
Information Technology Security Manager (ITSM) is an operational role
responsible for the day-to-day execution, coordination, and continuous
improvement of the organisation's cybersecurity processes. This role ensures
that security operations run effectively, risks are appropriately managed, and
the organisation maintains a strong security posture.
Reporting to
the IT Manager, and working closely with the vCISO, the ITSM is a key part of
SBS’s cybersecurity function, focused on operational delivery, the ITSM is
responsible for operating the processes that protect the organisation's
information assets on a daily basis.
This role requires a
hands-on approach to security operations, combined with the ability to
communicate effectively across technical teams and business units. The ITSM
coordinates security activities across multiple teams and stakeholders to
achieve security outcomes, including acting as a key point of contact for SBS’s
managed security provider.

What you'll be busy with:

  • Own, design and operate the organisation's core cybersecurity processes, ensuring they are fit for purpose, consistently applied, and continuously improved to ensure the protection of the Banks assets on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for the execution, integration and operational delivery of the cyber security strategy, working closely with the vCISO.
  • Act as the central point of contact and subject matter expert for all information security matters.
    Coordinating security activities across IT teams, projects, and business units.
  • Identify, assess, track and manage cybersecurity risks, ensuring risks are visible and appropriately treated.
  • Contribute
    to the organisation’s response to security incidents, ensuring timely
    detection, containment, resolution and post incident review
  • Manage
    the identification, assessment, prioritisation, and remediation tracking of
    security vulnerabilities across the environment.
  • Provide accurate and
    timely security reporting to stakeholders, ensuring visibility of security
    posture, risks, and improvement activities.
  • Assess and manage
    security risks associated with vendors, suppliers, and partners, ensuring third
    parties meet the organisation's security requirements.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with Managers/Team Leaders, especially the Risk team, to support decision-making and mitigate potential risks.
  • Coordinate security
    awareness activities to promote security-conscious behaviours and build a
    positive security culture across the organisation.

What you'll bring:

  • Strong understanding of security principals, standards (CIS/NIST) and best practices
  • Experience in Security Operations, incident response and vulnerability management
  • Familiarity with EDR, SIEM, Vulnerability Management and CSPM technologies
  • A working knowledge of Active Directory/Entra ID, Azure, M365, and AWS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Effective coordination and stakeholder management
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Cybersecurity; OR equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Information Security roles
  • Demonstrated experience in security operations and risk management

 This role is full time, 37.5 hours a week, worked Monday to Friday.

This role is fixed term as part of our exhilarating transformation journey for up to 18 months.
