Job Description

 Employment Training Specialist 

Freeport location 35hrs flex to include eves, weekends and/or holidays when necessary

Supported Employment (SEMP) provides job development, placement services and ongoing support to maintain employment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services plus six (6) months experience supporting people with intellectual and/or other developmental disabilities.
  • Prior Job Development/Marketing/Sales experience preferred.
  • Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends and/or holidays when necessary.
  • Valid and qualified NYS Driver’s License required. Defensive Driving, POM and CPR Training required.
  • Successful candidate should possess good team building skills; written and oral communication skills
  • Computer proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Maintain a commitment to professional service delivery of the agency’s mission.

Primary duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Provide services and supports to individuals enrolled in community-based Supported Employment Services to ensure the successful continuance of workers placed in competitive employment.
  • Assist referred candidates in achieving their vocational and employment related goals utilizing evaluation, assessment, and job placement and training techniques.
  • Provide oversight for a caseload of Supported Employment Services participants, delivering services/supports at employment locations, and providing documentation of such in compliance with programmatic regulations to ensure their continued success. 
  • Attend team and/or ISP Review meetings as scheduled, communicating employment related progress, needs and/or concerns; responsible for development of comprehensive supported employment service and/or habilitation plans designed to meet the individual’s needs; ensuring regulatory compliance with legal, OPWDD, ACCES-VR, COMPASS and CQL mandates. 
  • Maintain on-going communication with employer, ACCES-VR and/or OPWDD, family/advocate and other members of the individual’s support team (i.e. MSC, Residential, Day Program, etc.) 
  • Advocate for individual rights at the worksite, facilitates social integration of supported employees into the work environment, and offers sensitivity training to supervisors as appropriate 
  • Screen/evaluate individuals proposed for competitive community based jobs (at both agency and home locations) as needed; perform worksite analysis and task analysis to properly match individual to appropriate job placements; engage in job development to select potential employers, provide support during the hiring process
  • Provide on-the-job skills training at worksite. 
  • Provide counseling to individuals, their families and/or support team regarding vocational concepts as related to individual’s employment goals
  • Provide case management services when needed, make referrals to other service providers as appropriate 
  • Maintain case records in compliance with programmatic and regulatory requirements, including the collection ISP Reports for caseload of Supported Employment Program Participants 
  • Perform additional duties as requested by Supported Employment Services Management or AHRC Workforce Administration
