Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and analytical Business Analyst to join our university team. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills and experience in data-driven decision-making, working closely with various departments to enhance the university's operational efficiency and academic excellence that follows industry best practices.
Initially the incumbent will work through the Workday change over to identify departmental needs and provide solutions and/or design business processes, build documentation, test and train. This individual will translate business requirements into business solutions utilizing ERP, CRM and other enterprise application system functionality.
This position will collaborate with business, academic, administrative and technology teams as we seek to transform the systems used by the institution to support education and operational excellence. They will serve as the lead on key Workday projects and operational initiatives to define and document business processes and requirements.
This is a hybrid position in which remote work and in person attendance will be required. Also, residency restriction to Maryland, Delaware and Virginia.
Authority and Accountability
This role will report direction to the IT Director (Enterprise Information System). The position requires analysis of sophisticated business problems to be solved with configuration solutions. Our roles are fast-paced and focus on analyzing challenging problems and coming up with solutions to a variety of operational critical issues, all while running various projects and initiatives. They must be very detailed, self-motivated, results oriented, and an excellent communicator.
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and relevant business process analysis and/or business analyst training and experience required, with at least 2 years' experience in a business analyst role or performing business analysis functions.
- Expertise in utilizing various elicitation techniques for business and system requirements, alongside proficiency in employing diverse workflow/documentation methods, such as Swim Lane diagrams, and adapting them as per project requirements.
- Strong understanding of data integration between systems and/or experience working with IT.
- Strong interpersonal skills to understand the broad range of needs and various support requirements for delivering exemplary customer service to clients in a wide range of roles, across the institution.
- Flexibility and adaptability; ability to work in ambiguous situations.
- Ability to understand complex business processes and to effectively articulate the information to others through visuals/diagrams or other requirements documentation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats to a variety of audiences, as well as to create and maintain positive, productive working relationships with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to operate independently and set priorities amongst multiple task assignments.
- Excellent analytical skills, intellectually curious, and loves a good challenge.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, assignments, and projects, being self-motivated and highly engaged, with attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a highly diverse environment, demonstrating capacity to develop & maintain effective working relationships with individuals & organizations reflecting a broad range of identities, perspectives & experiences.
- Proven experience analyzing data and developing dashboards and presentations using business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree and/or CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) certification.
- Work experience in a higher education environment strongly preferred.
- Background in or exposure to higher education student administrative operations (e.g., registrar operations, admissions/recruiting, academic program/curriculum administration, academic advising, student accounts, financial aid, etc.) and/or Human Resource administrative operations is desirable.
- Experience working with Workday systems
