    • DESCRIPTION:  The Special Education Paraprofessional supports students with autism and related developmental needs within a 27J managed separate school classroom at Bob Sakata Education Campus. This role focuses on implementing individualized supports, promoting communication and independence as well as maintaining a structured, predictable environment. The paraprofessional works closely with the classroom teacher and related service providers to ensure consistent, high-quality support for students with varying sensory, behavioral, and learning needs.This role may also include providing personal care / medical assistance as delegated by the School Nurse. 


      SALARY:  Classified Grade L, $21.34 per hour to start, depending on relevant experience. 8.5 hours per day, Tuesday through Friday, 9 month work schedule, paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for benefits. 

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and communication supports
      • Provide direct support to students individually and in small groups under teacher supervision
      • Use evidence-based strategies (e.g., visual supports, structured teaching, prompting, reinforcement)
      • Support students with sensory regulation needs using planned strategies and tools
      • Identify and facilitate peer relationships
      • Assist with personal care needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, hygiene) as required
      • Collect data on student progress, behavior, and skill acquisition as directed
      • De-escalate students as needed using approved CPI measures, as well as following the prescribed Behavior Intervention Plan.
      • Attend training as required by the Building Principal, Special Education Teacher, and/or Director of Special Education.
      • Other duties may be assigned.

    • QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Ability to read and interpret documents such as Behavior Intervention Plans, IEPs, and staff and student handbooks.
      • Ability to collect data and simple correspondences.
      • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
      • Must be able to pass a post offer physical upon request.
      • Must be able to pass a Colorado and Federal Bureau of Investigation background check.

    • REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Experience working with students with with autism and related developmental needs
      • Bilingual preferred but not required
