    Special Education Teacher - Grades 5-8

    The Killingly Therapeutic Academy is currently seeking a special education teacher to join our team in providing specialized services to students with identified social-emotional disabilities. This program is designed as a clinical day program for students who require a more structured, therapeutic environment to access the general education curriculum.

    The program will be supported by two full-time clinicians, along with additional behavioral support staff, ensuring a comprehensive and supportive learning environment. With a student-to-staff ratio of approximately 1 adult to 3-4 students, this position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with students in need of individualized support.

    We are looking for a passionate professional who is committed to fostering a positive and effective learning experience for students with unique needs.

    Qualifications:

    • Must hold a 165 Comprehensive Special Education Certification
    • Knowledge of high school curriculum
    • An understanding of trauma-informed practices
    • CTSEDS experience is preferred (not required)
    • Strong desire to work with students with emotional disabilities
    • Understanding of the best practices in Transition requirements for students grades 5-8
    • Experience working in other clinical programs is preferred
    • Dually certified in general education and special education preferred not required
