Job Description

Job Responsibilities

The Director of Surveillance is responsible for overall operation of the Surveillance Department and ensure that all employees are provided with the proper tools and training to perform job duties and reach career goals.  The Director Surveillance will be responsible for seeing that the rules and regulations as set for by State regulations regarding the operation of Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Surveillance Systems are adhered to as well as the guidelines set forth by the company.  

License Level: This is a key level position and requires a key license. This position has the ability to make discretionary decisions or long-range policy determinations that may impact gaming operations.

Essential Duties/Core Competencies

  • Carry out procedures, trains, schedules and evaluates personnel in keeping with corporate objectives, specifically, supervises and coordinates activities related to the surveillance of gaming operations, NYSGC, cage booth cashiers, including the audio/visual recording of count room operations.  
  • Oversee the operations of the facility by researching, evaluating, and testing surveillance technology in order to develop most appropriate system to achieve security and maintain cost efficiency.  
  • Review current systems and makes recommendations to ensure compliance with federal, state and company rules and regulations.  
  • Conduct surveillance investigation by utilizing all systems efforts and coordinate with outside law enforcement agencies to assure proper handling of civil violations of patrons or employees; may occasionally appear in court with corporate attorneys to assist in criminal justice proceedings.
  • Coordinate and oversee investigations concerning allegations of employee misconduct, theft or violation of any policy or procedure outlined in the policy and procedure manuals provided by the company.  
  • Establish, implement and monitor emergency procedures to ensure prompt and safe handling of such emergencies as fire, flood, or bomb threats.
  • Work with operating departments to design and conduct highly sensitive investigations to facilitate fact-finding and probe into potentially illegal or inappropriate activities.
  • Review all daily activity reports and gives direction for the protection of assets in every way imaginable and possible.  
  • Select, train, develop, schedule and direct Surveillance staff.  
  • Formulate, implement and educate on company policies and procedures.  
  • Attend periodic meeting and training sessions.  
  • Work with safety as a priority and follows department and company safety standards.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Work/Educational Experience

  • Must be 18 years or older and have the ability to obtain the appropriate license pursuant to the applicable statute, rules and regulations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience in the casino surveillance field.
  • Five (5) years of management/supervisory experience in the gaming industry required.
  • Knowledge of casino operations required.

Essential responsibilities include moderate physical ability such as lift or maneuver at least twenty-five (25) pounds, and varied instances of standing/walking.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.

Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal, and work with mathematical such as probability and inference. Ability to create, read and analyze spread sheets of statistical data. Ability to decipher various reports and maintains reports upon request.

Pay Transparency: $131,330-159,140
