Position Description

Kibali Gold Mine seeks to recruit a Project Process Engineer for the ARK Project (Feasibility Study). The Project Process Engineer will be responsible for providing professional process engineering design and project management services for the feasibility study of the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and technical support on process engineering for the feasibility study of the project.

  • Prepare process engineering analyses, scopes of work, specifications, capital and operating cost estimates of key processing equipment and contract works for the project.

  • Write proposals and scopes of work, conduct metallurgical test work, analyse data and compile metallurgical reports for the feasibility study.

  • Provide process engineering designs and monitor and ensure effective design, project controls, and quality.

  • Perform a feasibility study for process design by creating associated design criteria.

  • Perform engineering calculations to support process design decisions.

  • Estimate CAPEX by identifying major process plant equipment along with their purchasing cost.

  • Prepare, review and negotiate contracts.

  • Plan and manage budgets.

  • Develop and implement quality control programs.

  • Provide direction on processing scope and requirements to suppliers based on specifications included in the procurement agreement.

  • Ensure that manpower, equipment, tools, materials and design necessary to support the project schedule will be available.

  • Assist with development, planning and coordination of complex engineering designs entailing technical specifications and detailed planning for the feasibility study.

  • Calculates and organizes data for process flow sheets and models processes.

  • Prepare specifications and operating instructions for processing equipment.

  • Develop PFDs and P&IDs.

  • Develop process concepts and carry out process technical evaluations.

  • Oversee the drafting of the piping systems of the process plant.

  • Assist with the technical adjudication of process plant equipment.

  • Perform process design verification in accordance with relevant international codes and standards.

  • Review business cases for application for expenditure of capital.

  • Stay abreast of developments in technology and find application of this technology on the operation to reduce cost, increase uptime and improve safety.

 

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical / metallurgical engineering.

 

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-5 years’ experience in Chemical / Metallurgical Engineering, with relevant experience in process engineering, both from a design and from an operating perspective (preference given to previous design experience).

  • Experience in the mining industry, with specific experience in pre-feasibility studies.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Knowledgeable and experienced with process plant equipment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word) and good communicator

  • Must be familiar with safe working practices.

  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
